Life & a Wee Bit of WIWW Thrown In...

So, I never showed you my anniversary watch...
 it's rose gold.
by DKNY.
with rhinestones around the face.
Pretty huh?
The dress is from Nordstrom a couple years ago.
Both bracelets are new from Express.
Oh, and that no shopping for a month thing I talked about...
yea,

well,

I needed retail therapy in a bad way one day.
It was the only way to save me from the dark day that I was having.

Ha.

We have had some large and delicious zucchinis from my moms garden recently and I got this idea from her to make zucchini boats.  She blogged about how she made hers here.
Everything in this zucc was organic.
I made mine with lots of pressed garlic, one large onioin sauted, ground turkey, a can of southwestern corn (with red bell peppers and black beans in it), and a jar of organic tomato and basil marinara I got at Henry's.
Topped with organic mozzarella, and for dessert, Golden Spoon.

I wish this picture was less blurry.  Too slow shutter speed, but I still love it.
Mr. Hass was showing the girls what kind of fish they will be catching up at Bass Lake.
Hannah said, "Okay, so I am going to catch a carpie and then I am going to eat it."
Berries from the Farmers Market.  Probably the sweetest I've ever had.  I had them this morning for breakfast.

My brother told Mr. H he would babysit for us one night for his birthday.
We jumped right on that.
He came  over last night so we could catch a movie.
Mr. H took an extra long while fixing his hair.
So I had some time to take some pictures and do some modeling for my tripod.
And now, get ready for the wiww details...
entire outfit- Target.
Yup.
It's true.
dress is from last year, sweater this year.
 Oh look there's Mr. Hass.
He sure cleans up nice doesn't he?
Good hair day too.  ;)
When we drove away both girls little heads were poking out from the corner of their bedroom windows waving goodbye to us.  Neither knew that the other was doing the same thing and it was the cutest thing I've ever seen.  They are such sweet girls, waving to us as we left for our date.
We saw Crazy Stupid Love.
Go see it.

So one day last week, the strangest thing happened to me.
I was in my car alone.
Driving along the freeway and had some time to kill before work.
I kind of zoned out and was just doing a little thinking,
and before I knew it, I became aware of my surroundings again and I was smack dab in the middle of the women's shoe department in Nordstrom at the Anniversary sale.
Like I said, weirdest thing.
Anyway, these beauties were just screaming my name and who am I to deny them a good home inside my closet next to my other tall boots?
Yea yea yea, don't harass me about that stupid challenge okay?
It was during the Nordstrom sale people.
So, all  bets were off.
Mr. Hass wasn't too happy about my new boots, but what does he know about fall fashion?
I'm feeling much better now.
And I won't shop next month.

;)

We woke up to pouring rain and thunder this morning.
Poor Mr H was already at work when I got out of bed at 7am.
Tonight we are going to the Crab Cooker to celebrate Nana's birthday.

Happy Sunday.

Happy Birthday Mr.

Mr. Hass turned 33 today.
I remember when he turned 23.
What's happening to us?
We're not young bucks anymore.
I guess we are both officially grown ups now.

The girls and I gave him his gifts yesterday afternoon.
They gave him this super fly hat.
And the college football preview magazine.

I gave him a pair of man Toms.
And a new razor.
And...

the most exciting gift...

tickets to see TRAIN!!!
Which include an overnight stay at Agua Caliente where they are performing in September!!!

Tonight afer Mr. H got off work, we met up with the fam at The Islands.
Good food, good company, good times.

Noah and Claire are doing what my Dad was doing to try to get them to look at the camera.  And I have major ugly squinty eyes, but like my Dad says, "this is what we look like people".

Happy 33rd babe.
We love you like crazy.

Random Haps.

Hey friends.
This post is gonna be kind of all over the place.
Hope you can hang with me.

I'll start it off with a little movie convo.
We've been burning through our netflix choices this summer.
Recently we've seen a few good movies, and some bad movies.
Here's my thoughts on a few of them...

Lincoln Lawyer- Two thumbs up. Very good. I wished I had read the book. It was entertaining, suspenseful, and kept us on the edge of our seats.
Hall Pass- Two thumbs down.  Terrible.  Did not finish it.
Red Riding Hood- One thumb half way up.  Decent. We did finish this one.  I liked the love story, but the acting was bad and the storyline was not much better.  We just kept watching because we were determined to guess who the wolf was.  We were both wrong.  So I guess it wasn't all that bad, but not great.
Easy A-  Two thumbs up. LOVED.  Watched this on a total whim.  Had never heard of it.  Emma Stone is great, Stanley Tucci made me laugh multiple times, and Thomas Haden Church had me chuckling a few times too.  Good message, and loved the irony in it.

That's all the movie critiquing from me for now.

Last week was 9 years that I have been married to Mr. Hass.
Time sure does fly.
We had our babysitter come over last night and she put the girls to bed.
We skidaddled and went to Citrus Grille for dinner.

Mr. H gave me a pretty new watch that I had circled and ear marked in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale catalogue.  He also upgraded my Glen Ivy pass so that when I get my massage I can now stay for the whole day.  What a guy huh?
I got him man stuff.  You know, new rainbows, the ESPN book, another book, a hat, sweat bands, you know, man stuff.
This is the view we had from our table.
After dinner we walked to Miguel's Sr for margaritas and dessert.
It was a fun night.
It's always fun if you are carrying a small hot pink clutch, and not a large bag filled with fruit snacks and wet wipes.

Get ready for some more random.
I told you this was all over the place...
These pics are from last week one day.
We stopped by my Mom's house and the kids got a kick out of playing games on Mom's ipad.
It's almost scary how well these kids can navigate their way around modern technology.
You should see Claire work that touch screen on Mr. Hass' cell phone.

Picked up some cute sweats for the girls at Old Navy.
We are going to Bass Lake soon and it is usually cool in the mornings and evenings up there.
Aren't these drinks pretty?
Sparkling french berry lemonade.  From TJ's.

This is inside the girls' bathroom.  That white cupboard is where I keep all their hair products.
I have been asked by a couple people what I use on their hair so here you go...

I especially love that pink one for them.  It's called ego boost and it is a leave in conditioner.  I put it in their wet hair after baths and it gives them a little body in the morning and prevents bad tangles too.
Shannon this one's for you...
A few of my favorite make up items.
I am really no make up expert, and more and more I am trying to cut costs so I don't even spend a ton of money on my make up but I do splurge on a few things.
1.  Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer- I LOVE this big time.  On days when I don't want to put on liquid foundation and powder, this is enough to give a light coverage, and it also has spf.  It is one of my splurge items at $45 but I probably buy two a year.
2.  bare minerals moisturizer- I recently bought this at Ulta and loved it.  This is my second jar and my skin is some what dry so it is really nice without feeling too heavy.
3.  Laura Mercier creme eyeshadow- I use this as a base underneath my shadow to keep it from creasing, or just alone on days that I wear very little makeup.  It is pricey at $22 but it lasts me about 7-8 months.
4.  Nars eyeshadow in Cyprus- love this color.  Their shadows are big and last a long time.
5.  mirabella eyeshadow quad- I buy this at one of the places I buy hair color.  It is a professional line but I am not sure where else it is sold.  I get a great price on it and I like their shadows just as well as Mac.
6.  Mario Badescu cucumber mask-  A client told me about this and I just recently bought it.  I like it and it's mild enough to use 2-3 times a week.  I like to mask it while I'm in the bath with my latest "O" magazine.  ;)
7.  Kiehl's moisturizing lip balm- this was a gift and it is one of my favorite chapstick/lip moisturizers ever.  It's amazing.  I'm almost out and am afraid to know what it costs, but I will definitely get more.
8.  tinted coverup stick by Murad- works great and has tea tree to zap zits while you wear it.  I bought it at Ulta.
9.  Nars bronzing stick -color is South Beach- This is a splurge my friends but it is amazing.  I wear it all over the place.  Over my make up, across my temples for a little bronzing action.  On my cheeks and eyes after I've used tinted moisturizer for a little more color.  It's fun, slightly sparkly, and fabulous.
10. lip gloss from Bath & Body Works.  Can't get enough.
11.  liquid foundation from Prescriptives- best personal color match I have ever found.
12.  under eye concealer- also from Prescriptives.
13.  Mac bronzer in refined golden- can't live without.
14.  Mac blush in prism- fave.  used for years.
15.  cover girl eye liner- cheap but it is nice and creamy.  I like it.
16.  neutrogena compact-  way cheaper than mac, and I go through these like water.

Anybody still there?
Did you make it through this crazy long random post?
What make up items can you not live without???

Today.

I had another blog post all lined up just waiting to be finished (random stuff and make up), but I just loved some of these pictures and I wanted to remember today.

Not for any reason in particular.
Just because it was nice.
It was simple.
It was a carefree kind of day.
No where to be.
No rushing around.
An unexpected visitor.
It was nice.

The girls played and had a tea party while I tore apart Claire's bedding.
I took the bedrail off of her bed.
It made making the bed a huge pain, and I don't really think she needs it.
I washed the girls comforters and sheets.

I took the red white and blue nail polish off their toes and we re- painted them.
Claire chose pink.
Hannah chose gold glitter.
I still have to work on getting my subjects in focus with that darn self timer.
Don't have that one down yet.

Noah came over for a bit today.
They had a blast painting.
They painted ice cream cones, hot dogs, teddy bears, and rainbows.

 After lunch they swam.
You should have seen the smiles on their faces.
Oh and there were tears too.
Isn't there always?
But there were more smiles and laughter than tears.

Mr. Hass got home from work early and after we all had a little snooze, we set out to check a couple of things off our summer list.
Out to dinner as a family-  check.  We sat outside Red Brick Pizza and had a delicous Greek salad and bbq chicken pizza.
Yogurtland- check.  Had not been yet.  Love love.  We were all big fans.  We will be back.

Ahhh summer.  I just love it.

Hope your day was carefree too.

Lunch with Grandma GG and Nana

We had a nice visit with Grandma GG (my Grandma) and Nana (my great grandma) yesterday.
I just love my Grandma's house.
I snapped this picture in her dining room.
Her whole house is decorated so beautifully.
I hope she doesn't mind I am sharing this.

I would have walked around taking more pictures, but there was children and water...
 so I didn't.
My Mom and Noah came for lunch too.
These kids just get a kick out of Grandma GG's boat and being on the water.
Mr. Hass even got  to come too.
He gave us a boat ride around the lake while we chatted and searched for turtles.
It's always crazy how much cooler it is on a body of water than not.
I think I always want to be on a body of water somehow.  Electric boat, cruise ship, sail boat, yacht, yes, that all sounds nice doesn't it?

After our boat ride we ate lunch.
It was delicious but I don't have any pictures of it.
I was too busy eating.
I made the rasberry pretzel jello salad again too.
This time it was pretty.
But again, no pictures of that either.
Too busy eating.
The kids fed the ducks after eating their lunch.
Mr. H showed Claire how to fish.
They used leftover corndog as bait.
And just so ya know, ducks don't like corndogs.
But they do like snickerdoodles.

Thanks for having us over Grandma!
Can't wait to come back again soon.

Now let me ask ya all something...

Does this make you nervous?

Little bit?

Hmm.
Okay.

What about this?

Yeah, me too.

;)
