What I Wore Wednesday & My First Fix from Stitch Fix

Hi friends.
I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wendesday again.
I've got a few outfits this week.

Heading to work...
pink tank- local boutique, white jeans- Express, sandals, Target
(Please ignore my hair, I was in the process of getting the balayge results I wanted and still had to lighten the ends one more time)

Heading to the girls swimming lessons and then running errands...
navy tee- Gap, jean shorts- Mossimo Target, military jacket- BP Nordstrom, birks- Nordstrom, earrings- Nickel and Suede

I was browsing the shoes at Target and came across these super cute leopard sandals that looked just like the birkenstocks I had on.
I loved the fun leopard print! And they were so comfy.  And only $20.  Butttt, I did just buy myself these Nikes from the N Sale...
and I figured that Mr. H wouldn't understand my need for the leoopard birks, so I passed. ;)

Heading to out on my date with Mr. H to a brewery and a ball game...
white tee- Old Navy, Vigoss jeans- BP Nordstrom, necklace- BP Nordstrom, sandals- these are the brown version of the black ones in my first pic- Target
Since we were going to the Angel game I felt guilty for not wearing anything red, so I grabbed my red Toms just in case I felt like wearing those.  ;)  And of course I was thrilled that it would be cooler in Anaheim and I'd need my military jacket again.  It's from BP Nordstrom.

That's it for this week, but now check out the second part of my post...
My first Stitch Fix review!!!!!!

****************************************
I first heard about Stitch Fix on a few blogs that I read.
Right away the idea intrigued me.
I've always been such a lover of clothes and fashion and it sounded like such a neat concept.
It was like Christmas morning when I heard my doorbell ring and saw that pretty little Stitch Fix package sitting there waiting for me.

Here's how it works:
You sign up online and fill out your specific style profile (that part was really fun!).  You can include your Pinterest Boards too so that can see what kind of things you are pinning.  Then once a month you'll receive a Fix with five items in it.  Try the items on in the comfort of your home, keep and pay for the things that you love, and simply mail back what you don't want.
You can't beat the convenience of that right?
Each month there is a $20 styling fee, but that amount applies to the items that you purchase.
If you keep nothing, then you simply pay the $20 styling fee.
In each Fix you receive a note from your personal stylist explaining the items in your box and suggested ways to wear each piece.  I love the picture cards that also show different outfits you can put together using items in your Fix too.
First I tried on the orange skinny jeans with this top.
These jeans were really soft, and I have no colored jeans so I was really hoping to love them, but they were a bit too tight and I think I needed the next size up.
They were also a bit long on me too, which is funny because at 5'9 I usually have the opposite problem with things.
The top was cute and while I did really like it, I wasn't in love.  It was nicer than something I would wear often, and with a $54 price tag I'm going to have to really really love it.
I did like it with my Kut from the Kloth denim jacket over it.
But I just wasn't in love so it's going back.
The jeans were $88 and I don't mind paying that for a jean that I will get a lot of use out of, but these were too small, so it was a no.
I tried on my Lauren Conrad blazer over it too, and also liked this look.  But again, being practical, I just knew this tank wasn't something I'd grab to wear out of my closet often.
I did however love the necklace though and that is something I know I will wear a lot!  It's a keeper.
This pink print top was one that I had pinned.  I wanted to love it.  I like the abstract print.  I like the zipper.  I wanted to wear it with white skinny jeans.  But it was pricey!  And not only that but for the price of this shirt at $78 I was disappointed to see how frayed the seams looked at the shoulders of the tank.  So it has to go back.

The last item was a black and white maxi dress.
I wanted to love it.
The material was super super soft.
But the dress did me absolutely no favors and made me feel really wide.
It was also too clingy through the middle for my liking, so it goes back too.
Even though I am only keeping the necklace, I had a lot of fun with my first Fix.
I have created a new Pinterest Board to share with my stylist called My Stitch Fix Style Board.  Each pin I am leaving a detailed explanation of what it is I like in the photo.  This way my stylist will have an even better idea of what I am looking for next time.  I will also revise a few things in my profile so that she has a better idea of what price point I am willing to pay for what type of items.  Like I said, I don't mind paying a higher amount for a good fitting pair of jeans, but $80 for a top is just too much for me.
The necklace was definitely a winner though.

I am loving the whole concept of Stitch Fix and I am already SO excited about my next Fix!!!  If you're thinking about signing up just click here to get started.  It's so fun filling out your profile! And remember that the more descriptive you are in your profile and your Pinterest Boards, the more you will probably love your Fix.  Here's the note I just wrote to my stylist for next time...

Your note to your personal stylist:
Hi Venetia! Thank you for my first Fix! I wanted to love it all but had to send most back. I revised my profile so you'll have a better idea of what I am looking for. I'm in between pant sizes usually but the orange skinnies you sent I needed a size up. I did love them tho! Although I do hair two days a week, I'd really love to see some cute and fun things you think I would wear on my days off with my kids too. For those items the cheaper price point is better for me. I made a new Pinterest Board for you to look at called My Stitch Fix Style Board. Hopefully that helps let you know what I'm liking and hoping to see in my next Fix. I am really looking forward to it. Thank you!
Edit Note

Are you already signed up for Stitch Fix???
If so, how are you liking your Fixes?
If not, you can sign up here!
That's all from me for now.
Happy Wednesday my friends.

My Weekend With Mr. H!

Now that Mr. H and I have two very busy little girls, alone time is something that we most often dream about.  But this last weekend was a dream come true for us when my parents said that they would have the girls overnight so that we could re-charge.  It was just what we needed and we had such a great time!

We had plans to drop the girls off with my parents at 1pm on Saturday.  The weather was kinda overcast and dare I say cooler compared to the normal July days.  So I was super excited that wearing jeans and a military jacket wasn't a completely ridiculous idea.  :)
A couple weeks ago I blogged about how I had balayage done to my hair.  I loved it, but I wanted it to look a little bit more dramatic.  ;)  So I brought home the supplies I needed from work and Friday night before I did this...
It's a lot lighter on the ends now, and I was excited to try something new.  (I wouldn't recommend doing this on your own though friends.  This was actually my second attempt at home.  And remember I'm a stylist so I'm supposed to know what I'm doing.  ;)  My hair was pretty dark so my first time the ends were a bit too orange for my liking.  So this time I actually toned the mid section with two colors first, and then I re bleached my ends until they looked light enough, and until I was too scared to let bleach continue to sit on my ends.)
Summery don't ya think?
So after we dropped the girls off at my parents house we had lunch at The Islands.
Then we headed out to Fullerton to check out a brewery that my cousin told us about.
I text Chad on our way and asked him to meet us there.
The brewery Bottle Logic, has only been around for a year, and it was seriously the neatest place.
Really cool decor, and even better, really really awesome beer.
We had fun getting to visit with my cousin and I told them that I wondered if our old neighbor had heard of this place because he and Mr. H used to always love swapping craft beers.  And not 5 minutes later, he came walking up to the brewery with his girlfriend!  It was too funny.  We miss living across the street from him and it was fun to sit down and catch up!

After a while we said our goodbyes and our next stop was the Angel game.
Mr. H is a huge Mariners fan, and my Uncle Dave gave us his tickets for the night!  So nice of him and Mr. H was thrilled to be at this game to see King Felix pitch.  It was a good time, but I won't lie, I was more excited for our next day to begin because we were headed to the beach all by ourselves!!!

Do you know how easy it is to just go to the beach and only worry about yourself?  I do now!
It's like a MILLION times easier than taking your kids.  (That's fun too, but a different kind of fun.)
We slept in until 7:30, leisurely drank two cups of coffee, actually got to watch the news instead of My Little Ponies!  Then we threw our suits on and took off.
I went with a friend last week to a new spot in Laguna and couldn't wait to take Mr. H.
This cove is just so neat and the water is so clear and so beautiful!
 It was a gorgeous day.
And we just soaked it all in.
We love Laguna.
We love the beach.
And we love that we are lucky enough to be able to hop in our car and drive there within an hour.

We laid in the sun.
Read our books.
Ate some snacks.
Explored the tide pools on both sides of the beach.
Saw bright orange ghirabaldi fish (the state fish we learned), and lots of crabs, and birds, and seals.
And just when I was thinking that we had gotten to see a lot of wildlife that day, we were out in the water up to our necks for a dip to cool off when...
a SHARK swims RIGHT BY US!!!!!
That's right a shark!
A real one!

Alright, fine, it was a 3 foot leopard shark which is full grown and apparently harmless, BUT STILL!!!!!
A SHARK!!!!!

I think I got up on top of the water and ran to the beach so fast!!
And so did everyone else around me!
It caused quite the stir on the beach though.

We asked the lifegaurd about it and he sort of laughed at how harmless they are.
But I couldn't help but feeling like Vince Vaughn in the movie Couple's Retreat when he gets stuck in the water surrounded by sharks.  We had a good laugh about it.
And truth be told it was a beautiful shark.
It's leopard spots were very visible and it was pretty to look at.
Pretty after the fact that my legs were no longer within grazing distance of it's jaws that is.  ;)
After our near death experience shark encounter, we dried off and left the beach around 4pm to go have an early dinner before heading home.
I love all of the shops in Laguna, and we popped into one of our favorites Art For The Soul.
I've lusted after these handmade lazy susans for so long now and I took pictures of my favorite ones this time...
I want one for our kitchen table soooooooo bad.
The one above reminded me of our girls and things we are trying to teach them.
And the next one I loved the saying around the outside and the colors, and I loved that the pictures reminded us of our new backyard.
These pieces are so unique and truly works of art.
Some day.

We had dinner at one of our favorites.  Big Fish.  Sitting on the patio overlooking the ocean with the breeze blowing in.

It was the perfect day.

We got to my parents around 7pm, and came home by 8.
And at 1am Claire yelled down the hall that she had just thrown up.
Womp womp womp.
Our getaway weekend was officially over.
Claire was tired today but never threw up again.
I spent my Monday cleaning and laundering and lysol'ing everything.
I'm hoping no one wakes up sick tonight.
Instead I'll cling to memories of the salty ocean air.

Hope your weekend was good too.
I was super excited to receive my first package from Stitch Fix today!!!!  Look for that post with the details later this week.  :)

What I Wore Wednesday

It's Wednesday again, and although I've mostly been running around in my summer uniform of shorts and a tank top with my rainbow flip flops on, I've still got a few pics for ya this week.

I'm linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy so be sure to head to her blog and check out all of the others joining in as well!

It's that time of year where it's so hot all I want to wear is something cool and comfortable.  And I especially want to be cool and comfortable when I'm blow drying and flat ironing at work! So one day last week I wore this outfit...
maxi skirt- Windsor, white cami- BP Nordi's, black tee- Target, sandals- dolce vita Nordie's, necklace- Windsor, earrings Nickel and Suede
That fun bracelet in the middle is from Baublebar and I am loving it lately.

Last Friday I ran errands with my girls in this...
tee- BP Nordstrom, striped tank underneath- Merona Target, shorts- See Thru Soul Nordstrom
and there's my famous summer rainbow flips.  Nothing is more comfortable.  But later that evening I had to pop in at work for a client so I changed into a pair of capris and sandals from Target.
Before work I also added another coat of my new 3D Fiber Lash Mascara by Younique that I have been having so much fun with.  I shared this picture on instagram...
I seriously can't believe how fun this mascara is!  I'm having a linky party for it on facebook but if you are interested you can also click here to purchase it too.  You can read my full review on the mascara here.

Summer uniform in this pic again, heading out to swim lessons with my girls...
tank- Target, shorts- Target, flip flops- you guessed it- rainbows

After swim the girls went to a friends house to play and I had some time to myself at Target.  I spotted this cute dress and had to try it on...

Navy and neon yellow?  So fun!  And even more fun is that they had 3 other super cute prints and I had a heck of a time deciding which one I wanted to get!  But I kept picturing this one with white sandals and my destroyed denim vest in the summer, and then with my Hue leggings from Nordstrom and tall brown boots in the fall!  So it hopped right into my cart and came home with me.  :)

That's it from me this week.
But hey,
who's been shopping the N Sale???

I've been having so much fun just looking through pics from the #nsale hashtag on instagram!
I cracked up the other day when I saw this one...

Well played Nordsrom, well played.  hahahahaha.

I myself have not gone to the N Sale, but I did break down and make a few online purchases. ;)

Hope you're having a happy Wednesday!
Thanks for stopping by!

Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara

Hi there, and Happy Friday!

So have you guys heard about Younique's 3D Fiber Lash Mascara yet?
I hadn't, until Debran @ladylashly asked me if I would try it and do a review if I liked the product.
I told her I'd be happy to try it, and if I liked it, I would do a review.

Well, guess what?
 I LOVED it!!!!
Like seriously, how can a couple of wands turn my non existent eyelashes into long, thick and voluminous lashes?!
But it did!
And it is SO easy!

I'm a mom.
I've got limited time in the mornings to get myself ready.
I don't like make-up that involves a lot of fuss.
That's why wearing false eyelashes is not an option for me.
I simply do not have the patience.
But this is so simple.

Here's what you do...
(OK, well I'm sure there's lots of ways to do it, so I'm going to tell you after a couple of attempts, here is what I found worked best for me...)

Step 1- Curl lashes.
Step 2- Apply one coat of your regular mascara; I use a cheap one by Maybelline
Step 3- Now do one eye at a time, apply one coat of the transplanting gel to your lashes on the first eye.
Step 4- To the same eye, apply one coat of the fiber lashes.  These are made from green tea leaves and they look like little eyelash hairs...

Now you can look at your lashes in the mirror and say "Whooooaaaaaa" Because you are amazed at what those little fiber thingies do to your eyes!

Step 5- Finish it off with another coat of the gel to make the fibers stick.

That's it!
Well, now do the other eye.  Then that's it!

I'm telling you, I was skeptical about this, because I do not have long eyelashes.  I have always envied people who do.  But with this mascara on, I am tempted to just walk around fluttering my eyelashes at people.  ;)

If you're up for a more dramatic look, you can do several more layers of the gel, fiber, gel to just the tips of your lashes.

Any of you remember Cassandra from Juan Pablo's season of The Bachelor?  I saw this picture that she posted on her instagram of her lashes with just one coat of Younique.

And this is what she said about it...

I was really excited to learn how few ingredients are in this makeup.  All of the ingredients are natural based and it contains no harmful chemicals like so many other mascaras on the market.

This mascara is also water resistant, but easily washes off with warm water and facial cleanser.  I can attest to this, I wore it on the 4th of July when we were in Newport, and my eyes always get watery at the beach.  Even though I was wiping them all day, my mascara totally stayed put!

Here are a few other before and after pictures of women using Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara...

The results really do speak for themselves.
At first I thought this mascara wouldn't be worth the $29 price tag, but I have been proven wrong!

If you are interested in getting some for yourself, just contact Debran at my linky party!
You can also follow Debran on instagram @ladylashly

Let me know how you like it if you try it! I'd love to swap tips with ya!!!
