I want to show you something. But don't be jealous okay?

I have some fun finds I'd like to share with you, my blog buddies.
But, here's the thing.
You still have to promise to be my friend.
Not because you will think I am a dork,
but because you will be so insanely jealous that you didn't find these things first.
SO,
are you ready?

Without further ado...
my new shirts...
 Yeah, I knew it.
You're so jealous aren't you?????
Well, the red t shirt I just found at Marshall's so if you hurry in, they might still have one.  And you betcha I am actually going to wear this shirt.
The tank top...
well, what can you possibly say about a Beverly Hills 90210 tank top, complete with a picture of the original cast, other than how freaking awesome is that.
I mean, Tori Spelling, Luke Perry, and Jason Priestley are on my shirt!
I spotted this beauty online one day at Forever21 and had. to. have. it.
I wear it mostly around the house and to bed, although I have worn it to the splash park before too.
I had it on the other night and Mr. Hass just started laughing at me.
I said "What?!"
And he said, "Nothing, your shirt is just a crack up.  all I can think of when I see it is {Dana na na, Dana na na, doot doot}".
Tell me you remember that theme song.
90210 was my faaaaaavvvvooorrrriiite show back in the day.
When I first met Mr. Hass he said that 90210 was one of his all time favorite shows.  I knew then we were meant to be.  ;)

The dog days of summer appear to still be upon us.
Our air conditioner has not stopped running for five days.
Poor Abbey is so hot outside that she just cries and cries to be let into the garage.
It's hot in there too, so we've baby gated her in and propped the door for her so she gets some ac.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel like most people who read my blog also read my mom and my sister's blogs and they have finished posting their Bass Lake pictures long ago.  So I apologize if this is getting old, but I want it in my blog for the blog book.
So, since you've probably already read this, scene that,
I will try to keep it spicy and include some crazy pictures, mkay?

Like, how's this one for crazy...
Are you laughing yet?
That's Brian in the speedo.
You see, one day we ran out of beer hmm that's weird so Drew and Brian took the boat to Miller's to get some more.
When they returned, Brian thought he'd sport his new swimsuit for us.
So, meet Brian.  And his new speedo.  And his two pairs of extra socks.
We love the guy.  And we can always count on a few laughs when he's around.

Kaylen and Hannah going out for a fast boat ride.
This is Mr. Hass, Tom, and my Dad trying to figure out what to do about the motorhome.
When we first got to camp and he got the rv parked, all of the oil leaked out from underneath.
Mr. Hass was pretty stressed out about the situation.
I think I know what he was thinking in the above picture, but I am also pretty sure that it included quite a few expletives, so I'll just leave those out.
And yes that is a headlamp that my Dad is wearing.
Yes he owns a headlamp, and he LOVES it.
He can be found wearing his headlamp any chance he gets (as seen in previous pictures)
Love you Dad!
As it turned out, he just had to put a bunch of oil back into it, and it was okay.  I think.  Well, at least that was the take home version of the story that I gathered.
Heading into The Forks for lunch.
The Forks has looked exactly the same for the last 30 years.
I am going to dig up a picture of all my cousins and I sitting at the bar eating our burgers and slurping our malts when we were kids.
Recently they built this outside seating area.
That's where we sat.
Mr. H, Donavon, and Kaylen, and I joined the group late.
We were out on the lake cutting on the water ski, doing flips n stuff.

I know I've griped about the camping quite a bit,
but we all LOVE spending time on our Bass Lake.
We all enjoyed several shakes and malts from The Forks and Millers.
It seems that I replaced my daily protein almond milk and fruit smoothie with a chocolate or strawberry malt.  I don't even want to know how many calories are in one of those.  They were SO good.
We had many different visitors up at the Lake and enjoyed them all.
 Let's see... what else...
Oh! Yes, there was dirt...

DIRT...

 and more dirt!
There were beautiful views at dusk as we ate our burgers and fries and slurped our malts at Miller's.
Then back at camp there was playtime on picnik tables in...
you guessed it...
the dirt!
...and there was scootering in the dirt in pajamas after showers (why did we even give them showers? I'm not sure)

This picture scares me a bit, and also makes me laugh.  We were all sitting around waiting to light the fire and Hannah thought that no one was watching her as she slowly bent down to pick up the axe.  I had my camera pointed right at her the whole time and as soon as she touched it (and I got my picture) I said PUT THAT DOWN YOUNG LADY BEFORE YOU CHOP YOUR HAND OFF!!!!

I am so thankful that aside from mosquito and other bug bites, no one was hurt all week.

If you've been reading my blog for a while, then you know about my older cousin Don.
And you might know that Don is (only) three months older than I am.
And that he has been one of my best buds since the day I was born.
And he let me put alligator clips in his hair when we were little and he liked it.
So Don- if you are reading this-  I saved the BEST Bass Lake post for last my friend.
(He knows what I'm talking about, and he's grimacing right now)
And I'm giggling.
I hope you have enjoyed these Bass Lake posts, and after I share one more post with you about my older cousin Don and what happened the day he was at the lake with us,
then I promise,
this blog will be back to business as usual.
Which is,
 you know,
what I wore Wednesday, and hair 411, and my new TJ's finds, pictures of my cute kids, and my new cute shoes...
  Things of that nature.

Signing off now.
Keep it classy San Diego.
Oh, and 5 more days until the BSU v. UGA game.
Mr. H is so excited you'd think it was Christmas!

Movies, Shoes, Clothes, Books, Vacay Pics & A Video...but not the one you're thinking...

Hello. Hello.
How is everybody feeling tonight??

I am three glasses of wine in and feeling fine.
ha ha.  I'm kidding.
Just one.
;)

So where ya been?  Who've ya seen? What's new?
Me?
Well,
the Mr. and I had our babysitter come over on Friday night so we could go out with the people.
I wore this:
We went to the movies and saw One Day.
Consensus says- we both liked it.
I read the book and enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

I had Old Navy bucks that were gonna expire tomorrow so of course I couldn't let that happen.  That would just be shameful.
Got the girls new kicks.  $16 each my friends.  I think ON is the place to go for sneaks that are just gonna get destroyed eventually.
These shirts are scratch n sniff.  Say what?
Yes, they really do smell like cupcakes.
Hannah spotted that ruffly pink dress on the right and did the happy dance right there asking if she could have that shiny pink dress.  Claire's is the dress on the left.

After Old Navy, since it has been about 110 today and the past couple days, I took the girls to see Winnie the Pooh at the movies, thinking that was a nice cool activity that didn't involve being outside.
The girls did great and sat through the whole movie enjoying their snacks and drinks.  I, on the other hand, thought it was the most boring children's movie I have ever seen.  Wow.

I started this book today.  I'm  only a few pages in and I'm in love.  I know it's gonna be GOOD.

Oh- have you all seen Temple Grandin yet????
Cuz if not, you should definitely check it out.  We recently netflixed it and I thought it might be boring.  I was so wrong.  It is a true story about Temple and she is autistic.  What a remarkable person she is, and a really really good story!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I spent some time editing a few more Bass Lake pics tonight.
I wish I wasn't so type A and I could just slap them up here and call it good.
But no.
I'm not like that.
I have to edit them.
And then I have to tell you the stories behind them.
But tonight, I am just going to leave you with a couple random ones.
This was everybody loading onto the boats to take off for the day.  This was a day that Jae and Tom were hanging out with us and it was the night I drank a bottle of wine by myself decided I had had it with camping and the woods.
I love this picture and the next one.  We were coming back into the marina to dock the boats for the night and Hannah was just passed out.  We got everything picked up off the boat and she just fell deeper and deeper asleep.
The lake can do that to a girl.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And just for fun,
I'll leave you with a couple videos of our after dinner conversation with the girls the other night.

Just realized I uploaded the wrong video.  I meant to upload one different than the first.  It's cuter.  And Claire talks more and we crack up at the way she says "Hannah".  So I'm working on that right now, but it takes a while.  Check back soon for that one.  :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay here it is!
Listen to the way Claire says Hannah.  She used to just be able to say "Ha",
and now we laugh and say that it sounds like her tongue comes out of her mouth when she says "Hannah".
Pretty cute in my opion.  :)

Thanks for stoppin by!
Have a great rest of the weekend.

So Long Summer & Pics from Bass Lake

Today Hannah started back up at school.  This will be her last year of pre school before she's off to the big leagues.
I am glad that she got to end her summer with a bang.
She experienced so many firsts at Bass Lake.
It was her first time camping,
her first time on a speed boat,
her first time tubing,
(which she really enjoyed),
first time roasting marshmallows and making smores,
first time sleeping in the motorhome,
and she learned to yell "hit it" and all about the thumbs up and thumbs down signals to tell the boat driver to go faster or slower while on the tube.

She requested a french braid for her first day of school hair do.
Hope it's a fabulously fun school year for you my girl!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So here I am.  Day 1.  6am, preparing to leave from my parents house for Bass Lake.
This will be the only picture of me from the trip with clean hair and a fresh face.  So consider yourselves warned.

The drive took 9 1/2 hours.
We now know to leave earlier.  We were on the road at 7am, but next time we need to leave by 5.
There were several unexpected stops along the way...
How fly does Mr. H look in his burlap TOMS and his "driving" hat hmmm?  Oh and Dad you look super fly too.
And so we were off, like a herd of turtles.  ;)
The first stop was intended for a potty break, but as luck would have it, the rope or crank or thingamajigger that was attaching the patio boat to my parents motorhome broke.
SO the second stop, was the closest Wally's Camping World to get that fixed.
While we rolled into Wally's World, Mr. H picked something up on one of our motorhome tires and he heard a thug thug thug thug sound, and thought he had a flat tire.
Turns out, it was a huge slab of concrete rock that took three of the guys and a crow bar to get out of the tire.
Lucky.
After the men took care of all that fun stuff, we were back in the rigs and rides, moving along,
like a herd of turtles.
Finally, after one short 40 minute nap (little did I know the only sleep I would get for the next three days) and 9 hours later, we caught our first glimpse of beautiful Bass Lake.
Boy does this place make me smile.
So many memories here.  My Mom said they figured it out and that our families have been going to Bass Lake since 1971.
I plan on digging out some old pictures from previous trips and scanning a bunch to share with ya'll soon.
I got my first bee sting at Bass Lake when I was just one year old.  Stepped on the bugger, or so I'm told.
Pulling through Miller's Landing Resort.  This is the marina where we kept the boats and the campgrounds we stayed in was just a wee hike up through those trees.
Here is a view of Miller's from the dock.  (Next time I think we will look into renting a house here at Miller's.)
Or maybe we'll just stay in this house...
Yeah, that would work.

We got into town too late to put the boats into the water (major sad face) so we headed into Wishon Campground to greet the dirt set up camp.
The first day is always the worst.
It was HOT.
We were all tired, hungry, sweaty, and ready to just relax.
This was Brian's tent.  Brian is a friend of my brother's.  They played basketball together when they were just itty bitty boys, and Brian has become a friend of the whole family ever since.
My sister looks happy right?  I think she was contemplating whether or not we could book rooms at the closest Hilton.  Ha.
Claire and Hannah were wearing matching outfits, but at somepoint during that 9 1/2 hour drive, Claire peed through hers.  It happens.
Brian parked his rig in front of our home on wheels.
This was Mom & Dad's camp space.  And that's Erika and Noah's spacious blue tent in the background.
And this my friends was the public shower house.  One big room where everyone had to shower together.
Ha! No.  I'm kidding!  Did I get you for a second there????
Individual stalls, so don't worry.  This was right behind Miller's Landing and you had to buy tokens for the shower.  I think it was $3 got you five minutes.
Yeah, fun.  My first time in I thought I could make it with one.
No.
No I could not.
I came out wrapped in just my towel and yelled, "Jaaaaaakkkkeeee".
Mr. H heard me yell and I said, "I have shampoo in my hair and one leg shaved, GIVE ME YOUR TOKEN."
And so he did.
And I bought two tokens for each shower from then on out.
Oh, and have you ever tried to shave your legs in a tiny shower stall without leaning so far over that your butt touches the (public) shower wall?
What?  Oh, yeah, well me neither.

We ate dinner that first night at 8:30pm, made it to the showers by 9:30pm, and then back to camp to drink a bottle of wine and pretend I was at a five star resort with room service to sing cumbaya around the campfire and off to bed.

You're not sick of hearing about Bass Lake yet are you?

Cause there's more where this came from.

Peace out friends.
And don't take your free home showers for granted.
;)
