Random & Catch Up

Last Friday night was Pal's Night at Claire's preschool.
So Mr. H took her to that and Hannah and I took Abbey for a nice long walk.
I just bought Hannah her first pair of Nike's and she said,
"These are SO cool Mom! Now I have a pair of Nick's like you!"
I laughed and told her that it is pronounced NI-KEEEE.  :)

Sunday was my beautiful Grandmother's birthday and also my beautiful cousin Deanna's birthday as well.
They threw themselves a party and it was great fun.
Claire let Uncle Mark try on her new sunglasses for a bit.  ;)
Hannah had fun driving Grandma GG's boat.

Yesterday afternoon we played in the front for a bit before dinner.
The nicer weather we've been having lately is making me so anxious for summer.

Today I got to get my hair done by a friend at work...

And before I sign off and don't blog again for who knows how long, I MUST tell you about these books!
I just discovered this author randomly on my kindle and read Colleen Hoover's book Hopeless.
It was SO good!
I could not put it down and stayed up way too late for two nights to finish it.
After a couple pages I was thinking it might be too young for me, but by the end of the chapter I was obsessed.
It was so good and I immediately looked to see what else the author has written.
Imagine my surprise when I discover that her first books are a trilogy.  I love a good series so I figured I would give the first book Slammed a shot.
It was SO good!!!!
Again, just like Hopeless, I could not stop reading it!!!

My friend at work recently got to meet the author and she is letting me borrow her copy of book 2 Point of Retreat tomorrow.
I can not wait to start it.
Book 3 comes out end of this month.
And you can guarantee that this will be the next book/movie craze!
So jump on it and go get yourself a copy of Slammed!
You can thank me later.

Peace Out.

(PS- I think this is the most blogging I've ever done in one day.  Don't miss the next three posts, those are all new.  And I will try to blog again before another month goes by.)

Some Random Tidbits...

I always feel the need to document the day when I actually get dressed and blow dry my hair on a day that I am not working...
I think Mr. H took Hannah to school for some reason this day, which is most likely the only reason I was dressed.
It's so much easier to get ready by 9am when Claire has to be at school than by 7:30am when Hannah has to be there.

Claire practicing some counting and homework.
A pink hat that Claire made in school.  She was oh so proud of this pink hat.
Mr. H recently painted our bathroom and the cabinets under the vanity.  At first I hated the color, but once the whole room was done it grew on me.
Hannah's kinder promotion is coming up at the end of May.
I can't  believe how much she has changed this year.

I bought a chambray shirt a while back and I finally wore it.
It took me a while to get past the whole "denim shirts are back" thing.  But I like it now.  I'm on board.  ;)
Mr. H and I went to RA for sushi a couple weekends ago and we saw Tina Fey's movie Admissions.  We had heard it was just so so, but we both enjoyed it.
Hannah really has improved a lot this season in soccer.
She had a great team, and some great coaches this season too.
One of her coaches and I went to high school together.  Small world.
Her last game was last Saturday and she had so much fun at the pizza pary on Sunday.
Accepting her bauble head trophy from Coach Joey.

And a few more pics before I end this randomness...
Hanging out at Dos Lagos last weekend...
We just discovered Pinkberry...and I am a FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We might become their best customers this summer!!!

Oh yeah and one more thing,
Hannah lost another tooth!
I know, there's that fake smile.
Here's a better one, but not a fantastic picture... iphone is my friend.
I was at work last Wednesday when Hannah lost this one.  She pulled it out herself!

And in case you wanted an update on Crazy Claire...
 She's still crazy!!!!

The toothfairy left Hannah $5 and it was on her nightstand.  During naptime, Claire pocketed the money and put it in her purse!
I found it and took it back.  And in more recent news, Claire whispered the other night to Mr. Hass, "I did a really bad thing." So he said, "What did you do Claire???" And she said, "I broke Hannah's new bauble head soccer trophy."  Mr. H ran up to check it out, and sure enough, she snapped the head off.  No more baubble.  See, she's still crazy.  But we love her!

Daisy Scout Field Trip

April 19th I took Hannah to Amy's Farm in Chino to meet up with her girl scout troop.
We got there late thanks to Hannah's Mom and her very poor sense of direction.
But we still managed to see quite a bit.

They had lots of sheep and they were so soft.
And so loud.  I've never heard so many "baaaas" all at once in my life!
And get a load of that huge pig!!!
The girls even got to milk a cow.
Lucky Claire gets to tag along for all this stuff and she already can't wait until she gets to be a Daisy too.
Daisy Scouts are winding down now that the school year is almost done.
This Friday is Hannah's last official meeting.
But since Hannah does not move up to Brownies for another year, she will still be in the same troop with the same leader next year, so her leader has been looking into a few fun activities for the girls to get together and do over the summer that I think Hannah will really enjoy.
I'm so glad we wound up finding this troop for her.  She has really learned a lot and gotten to experience some really fun things already.

Hannah's First Field Trip

On April 12th Hannah had her very first field trip with her Kinder class.
I didn't think I was going to be able to go because only a few moms are allowed on the trip, I wasn't sure if I got finger printed at the district office in time, I had no idea what I would do with Claire if I got to go, and at the last minute it all wound up working out.
Mr. H was able to get the day off from work, and I was cleared through the office (so glad my fingerprints were clean!) ;) in time, and another mom was not able to attend and I was asked to fill her spot just a week before the trip.  I'm glad that Hannah was super excited that I was able to go too.

When I asked Hannah what she was most excited about she said "the bus ride!"
Haha.  Wouldn't that just figure.
I carpooled down to the dairy farm with the other moms and we were there to greet the bus when they arrived.
I had four kids in my group.  And I was counting 1...2...3...4... okay I got em all.... all day long!
This picture cracked me up.  This boy was talking during her presentation to us so she made him come sit by her and he said "Ugh, it's so stinky here!"  hahaha.
The kids had a lot of fun.
Hannah enjoyed getting to feed the cows.
This little baby was only six months old.
Pretty cute for a cow.
They got to see the machine that milks the cows...
I never can seem to get over the height difference between Hannah and her classmates...!
After the tour they got to pet and feed the goats and chickens and other farm animals.
Then it was time to head back to the bus.
From there we went to a park to have a picnic lunch and let the kids play.
Hannah had a great time, and I was so happy I got to go with her on her very first field trip.

This & That

A while back we postponed our Farm Fresh deliveries because I wasn't using a whole lot of the winter produce.
But I remember loving the spring and summer produce, and was so excited when we received a box on our porch last Friday.
 This box did not dissapoint.
We've already eaten the strawberries, asparagus, onions, and some of the apples.
Nothing better than getting fresh local food delivered to your door step!

I took the girls to see The Croods last Thursday.  I thought it was really cute and I loved the message.

Do you remember those nightstands I found on craigslist?
I shared the end result on instagram, but I guess I better share them here too.
We originally wanted them for our bedroom, but they were way too short, and the girls needed new ones too, so Mr. H sanded em, primed em, and painted them white and they turned out so great.
The girls were so excited to fill up their new drawers.

We had our first cousins sleepover recently.
The girls were a bit tired the next day, but that's what it's all about isn't it? ;)
Mr. H reading the current Junie B. Jones book to the crew.

Have you guys bought JT's new album yet???
I LOVE it.
I spent all morning yesterday cooking things to freeze in an attempt to make our busy school mornings go smoother.  I doubled the Weelicious recipe for lemon blueberry pancakes, and also for apple cinnamon pancakes.  This morning I had a couple apple cinnamons with my favorite Justin's maple almond butter on them.  hmmmm.

While I was busy flipping pancakes, Claire was busy fixing her hair for the day.
She's so prettttayyyyyyy.

I tried a dijon artichoke salmon recipe last night that I've been anxious to make and it did not dissapoint!
Simply saute an onion in oil (I used avocado oil),
then toss in a bag of frozen artichoke hearts, 3 Tbsp of dijon mustard, and 1/4 cup of white wine vinegar (or white wine).
Move artichoke mix to side and make room for your salmon fillets.  I used three.
Salt and pepper salmon to taste.
Squeeze two lemon halves over a slotted spoon to catch the seeds and squirt juice on salmon.
Toss artichokes on top of salmon, and bake at 375 for 20 mins. (I had to cook mine longer, about 26 mins. so just watch it.)
It was SO filling and SO good.
We had it with quinoa and lemon pepper noodles tossed in homemade pesto.

I just finished reading this book over the weekend...
and I am super excited to start this one...

We walked to school today.
Sad that Spring Break is over.
On the countdown for summer.
And I can not wait.
It's gonna be a good summer.
We've already got some fun stuff on the calendar.

We booked plane tickets this weekend.
We are flying to Portland this summer to meet our new niece.
And the girls haven't stopped talking about when they get to meet their new baby girl cousin.
(Mr. H's brother and his wife are expecting their first baby. And I can't wait to sniff her head.  You know what I'm talking about.)

Peace Out friends.
