Weekend Update

And she's off...

It's so funny how different I am with Claire when it comes to certain things than I was with Hannah. I would have never let Hannah crawl around on the concrete (wouldn't that hurt her knees) or crawl around where she would get dirty, or heaven forbid, wet too. Lucky little Claire, I just don't sweat the small stuff as much anymore.

Claire wore her suit and got to join in on the pool fun this weekend.

This was the sun coming up at 5:45 am on Saturday. I did NOT sleep well at all, and I heard Claire around 5:30, and I had to start getting ready for work at 6:30 so I figured I might as well get up and get some coffee in my system.
Claire has had a cold, and we all were a little sluggish and tired this weekend.
Hopefully a night of good sleep is coming my way.
Jake got his new BBQ this weekend. We can't wait to grill something good.
Gatorade break.
Time to go inside now Hannah.
And a few more pictures...
Hope your weekend was nice too!

Hannah

Our 2 (almost) 3 year old Hannah seems to be changing quite a bit. She is growing up right before my eyes.

Here's a brief update on our big girl:

She can most often times be found outside

with various scrapes...

and bruises from all of her activities.

She is known to throw an occasional fit or two. Or three or four.

She has been a bit mischevious and curious about things lately.

Funny Talk
*Recently Hannah has been cracking us up with her new sayings and things.
Her newest phrase is "Hollsec" (Which means Hold On A Second) When we are gearing up to leave the house Hannah always has to yell "HOLLSEC, hollsec, I need something" and run back in to get a toy or doll.
*She often tells us to "hurry, hurry" when doing something and I think it is because we are often telling her to hurry.
*Jake asked Hannah recently if she wanted goldfish or cheezits for a snack and her response was, "COOKIES."
*A few Saturdays ago when I was at work Jake and the girls were at the park. He told Hannah "Come on, we have to go, Mom will be getting home soon." Of course she did not want to leave, and he said "Don't you want to see Mom?" He said that she looked at him and in all serisousness said, "No, I see Mom all day."
*She has also recently really become aware of "boy" and "girl" things. If something is pink she will say that is for girls, and blue for boys. One of her baby dolls looks a bit more masculine than the other dolls, and she calls that one her boy doll.
*A couple days ago I was getting Claire dressed after her nap and Hannah disappeared upstairs. When done with Claire, I went looking for Hannah, and found her standing on her step stool at my bathroom counter. She was just about to squirt hand soap all over mine and Jake's toothbrushes. That little devil.

She makes us smile and warms our hearts everyday.

Claire is 7 Months...

...and getting so big! She recently sprouted tons of new hair. Her stick on bows aren't staying on as well, so I had to get her some headbands. A girl's got to accessorize.

Claire has changed a lot this last month and is now completely mobile. She has been sort of crawling for about two weeks, and today and yesterday (6/25/09) she seems to have officially learned how to crawl. She chased Hannah and I all over the living room this morning. She is so proud that she can do it. She is now wearing size 12 and 18 months clothes, and size 4 diapers. I accidentally put one of Hannah's size 6 diapers on her the other day, and it wasn't that big. Crazy.

pictures taken 6/21

5/31- Her first biter biscuit. Still no teeth, but we are pretty sure that those bottom two and top two are working hard to poke through. She loved this bisuit.

Mama doesn't really love these biscuits though. They are so messy. I know this is a dark picture, but it was the only one of her smiling with this mess on her face.

6/3- Claire's first time holding a sippy cup. She doesn't really drink from it yet, but she sure loves chewing on it.

Pretty profile. I can't get enough of her chubby cheeks and that cute little baby neck.

Started sitting up in the bathtub to play now. And sometimes her and Hannah just take a bath together, which is so nice.

Hmmm, what is this stuff? I wonder what it feels like...Oooooh...Hey guys, what is this green stuff called?
6/18- First time playing in the grass

New pair of shoes

6/24-Trying to pull herself up. She's not quite there yet, but almost.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Tonight before the girls baths, we decided to have some fun with a bit of Mommy's jewelry. It really is true, girls just wanna have fun...and have some nice jewelry.

This is one of my favorite shots, and this is straight out of the camera.

Don't worry, Hannah was trying to hug Claire here, not strangle her.

Oh how I love these precious girls.

Hello Horsey

This morning we went for a walk. We hiked south into the hills by our house. Well, really it wasn't that far, but it feels like it when you are going uphill pushing a stroller that weighs about 100 pounds.

There are about 5 horses that are kept really close to our house, and Hannah loves to go see them.

How cute is this picture? Hannah had her hand on Claire's head the whole way there.

Hello horsey.

Bye-Bye sunshine. We had some yesterday for the first time in weeks, and today it was back to June gloom again. Bleh.

After our hike home, we arrived at our house to find my Mom and Noah inside. They broke in. ha ha, not really, but they stopped by for a visit and stayed for lunch. It was a fun morning.
We also had a great weekend. Yesterday we really enjoyed the sunshine. We went to the park. Stocked up on necessities at Sam's Club. And had a fun afternoon playing games and eating dinner in the backyard. And to top it all off, my Dad came over in the evening so Jake and I could go to a movie. We saw Hangover and loved it. We laughed so hard throughout the whole movie. Very very funny. We also watched The Wrestler on Saturday night. It was good acting, but a sad story.

The Rest of The Week

After returning home from our trip to San Diego, Jake still had until Friday off from work. We planned to just hang around at home and relax the rest of the time. It's a good thing we did too, because after how busy we were, we were all in need of a little r & r.

Wednesday- Besides finishing up all of our laundry from such a short trip, Wednesday was so nice and relaxing. It was a cloudy, overcast day with thunder and a little bit of rain. Perfect weather for just laying low. In the morning I went and got a massage, and Hannah helped Jake was his car.

Later that afternoon we were going to play at the park, but it started raining. So we played in the rain at home instead.

Thursday- We took the girls to the see the movie "Up" at 11am. It went okay. Hannah was more excited about her skittles and her slurpee than she was about the movie. And Claire pooped twice during the movie. So as you can imagine, there was a lot of up and down, in and out. What we saw of it looked cute, but we left a little early and let Hannah run around a bit before heading home.

A few pictures before heading in to the theater.
Friday- We brought the whole family into my salon so I could cut Jake's hair. What a treat that was, for him and me. I HATE cutting hair at home, and on Jake's days off, it is just usually too hard to bring both girls in to the shop when I have any time at work. I usually cut his hair in our bathroom, and then get itchy hair all over me, and find hair on my bathroom counter for days. The rest of the day we ran errands, and did some more relaxing. Jake and I started the movie "Valkyrie" while the girls napped. So far it's really good. We are not done watching yet...

But the best part of Friday, by far was date night!

(I do realize that we looked tired, and have bags under our eyes in this picture. but hey, this is what we look like, right?)
It was a great date night. My brother and his girlfriend came over after the girls were in bed. We went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner and stuffed ourselves with delicous food, wine, and dessert. Then we walked around Barnes N Nobles for a bit and both got a couple new books.

It was so nice to have Jake home for that long. It is amazing not only how much more time we seemed to get to spend with each other, but also how much more I seemed to accomplish each day. It was so much easier to vaccuum, wash and put away laundry, wash my hair and shave my legs... It's the little things these days...

** On a random side note... the night before we went to San Diego we watched the movie "Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist". I definitely recommend it people. It was so funny and Michael Cera is great in it. We both really liked it and were pleasantly suprised by how much. It is also only one and a half hours which is nice.

Day 2 of Vacation: Legoland

Tuesday morning, after checking out of the hotel, we drove to Legoland.

We had never been before, and were hoping Hannah would enjoy it. She did, but we were not as impressed with Legoland as we hoped to be. I think most of the rides were still a little old for her, and perhaps we were also a little theme park worn out after spending such a busy day at Sea World the day before.

The weather sure was beautiful though. Sunny and 70. Perfect.

Our little cuties, checking out the maps, deciding where to go first.

One of the many lego towers around the park. This one, you turn the switch that Hannah is holding, and water shoots out of the seals mouth to make that ball go up.

Helicopter ride with Daddy.

Going up.

And UP.

We sat in a small stadium outside and watched a skit on fire safety. This was probably my favorite thing we did at Legoland. It was a funny and entertaining show with some songs and dance, and some pretty neat tricks.

Me & my girls, watching the fire safety show. You can't tell by this picture, but Hannah really liked the show too.

Pirate Land in Legoland was pretty neat. Hannah loved the pirate ship ride. You got to squirt other boats as they passed you, and there were squirt guns set up all along the outside of the ride, for people watching to squirt the pirate ships.

There was also a really cool splash park play area in pirate land. Had we known we might have brought Hannah's swimsuit. Although, even that was geared towards a little bit older kids. Next time. I might even want to play on it, it was so neat.

Our angel baby, napping in the stroller. Claire really is that baby. That baby that I used to think was like a mythical creature. You know, that baby who never cries. That baby who sleeps anywhere. That baby who is always happy and content. She's real. No myth. It's Claire.

After Legoland, we took a jet to Manhattan...

Just Kidding!

There is an area set up where they have made different cities, completely out of LEGOS! It's so realistic it's crazy. They said the Statue of Liberty alone had something like 123,000 legos. Wild. We floated right by it on a boat tour.

The capitol building in DC, made of Legos.

It even had Obama speaking at the podium.

The whole Vegas strip was also there in Legos. This was the MGM Grand. Without people in the picture, it is hard to know what size it actually is.

For being as tired as I know Hannah was from our nonstop fun, she never complained. She was so excited about all the new things she got to see and do.

It was a lot of work planning this quick mini getaway, but it was worth all the stress just to see how much fun Hannah had. And I think Claire had some fun too. I know it will get easier as they get older to do this kind of thing, but I will cherish the memories we made on this trip. It was great.
