Life According to my iphone

I feel guilty that I haven't been using my slr much this summer.
But with how fast and handy the iphone is, that seems to be my way of documenting life these days.
Here's some snapshots of summer this last week...
1.  passed out after a busy day
2. swimming with the fam
3. warming up in the sun after swimming
4. working on my tan
5. antibiotics for both girls all week.  H had ear infection, C had sinus infection
6. at home date with Mr. Hass
7. at home pedis for my girls
8. fancy beer for Mr. H and a cute bracelet for me; gifts from our neighbors after they got back from Costa Rica
9. resting on my bed while girls played in bath

1. girls made their own pizza for dinner
2. tomatoes, basil, prosciutto and cheese
3. snuggles
4. rad article i read on zite about 8 uses for coconut oil.
(Do you know about Zite??? It's a customized free magazine app for the ipad.  The. Coolest.  App.  Ever.)  Also, did you know coconut oil can be used as an eye cream AND as an eye makeup remover?  Me neither.  But I used it as an eye cream last night.  I think I look more youthful already.  And I smell like coconuts.  Hmm.
5. new Sprout watch.  water resistant.  bio degradable.  super light.  love.
6. Claire did not want to stay at school the last day of vbs.  Don't know why, but I didn't make her.  I just hope she doesn't act like that once preschool starts!
7. cooked up some shrimpies for tacos in coconut oil
8. said shrimp tacos
9. rad hat.  had. to. have. it.
One more instagram from the week...

So, vbs is done.
Hannah adored every second of it.
Her teacher adored her.
Claire had fun, was worn out, and learned lots of new songs.
Now the girls are on the countdown for Big Bear.
We are taking the motorhome up the mountain for the Fourth of July.
Watching fireworks from the boat.
I can't wait to see what the girls think.

That's all I've got today.
I'm out.

ear infections, pink eye?, and just some other stuff.

Howdy.
How are ya?
I'm good.
But I'm tired.
And I miss Mr. Hass.
He's in Phoenix this weekend with some friends from Boise.
They're golfing, and going to a baseball game, and thoroughly enjoying themselves I'm sure.
I'm glad he got to go.  He doesn't get to see these friends very often.

The girls and I have been staying busy.
Yesterday the girls completed their first week of vbs.
They enjoyed it but I think it really wiped them out too.
On Monday Hannah started to cry as soon as I picked her up, saying that her ear hurt.  Sure enough, mild ear infection, so we got her started on antibiotics that day.
Claire has had a mild cold and yesterday after school her eyes did not look good to me.  They were weepy and red and bloodshot and just didn't look right.
I debated taking her to the dr, but I promised the girls we'd go see Brave.
So we went and met my Mom and Noah there too.
Cute movie.
When we got home, I thought Claire's eyes looked worse, and I was worried it might be pink eye.  And of course now it is nearly 8pm at night and the girls (and I) are exhausted and the very last thing I want to go do is sit inside Urgent Care waiting for who knows how long.  Plus I'm a total germaphobe and I am always certain that we are going to catch every awful germ floating around places like that.  Mr. Hass handles that stuff much better than I do.
Since he wasn't around, I called my Mom and asked her to help me decide what to do.  She said she thought I should let her sleep and see how it looks in the morning.  So that's what I did.
It looked better this morning, but still kinda weepy and gross.  I thought about taking her to Urgent Care again, but decided not to.
I guess if it's still not better by Monday I will take her to her pediatrician.
Hannah's cold and ear infection seems to be much better.
Before Mr. H left for Phoenix he gave me these pretty daisies.
And since he's been gone, and I've been left to my own devices...
I was perusing through the handy dandy Nordstrom app on my new iphone and decided I would buy myself this sporty Sprout watch that I've been eyeing.
Mr. H sent me a text this afternoon that said, "Just finished our round.  Shot good for me.  I will call you when we get back to the hotel."

So then I sent him a picture of that watch, with a text that read "I might have bought this using the discover card today. Mkay. Love you. Bye."

I'm sure he just rolled his eyes and laughed.
Because he loves me. ;)

After a trip to my parents house this morning to have my Mom look at Claire's eyes again and tell me what she thinks, she convinced me that her cold has just settled into her eyes and she is ok.  So I left the girls at their house and ran down to the farmers market real quick.
It was the most crowded I've ever seen it this morning.
I bought red cabbage.
I don't even know what I am going to do with it yet but it was so pretty I had to have it.
I also got to go home with lots of good looking produce from my parents grove and their garden too.
That picture in the top right... see those tiny cherry tomatoes?
From my Mom's garden... the. best. tomatoes. i. have. ever. eaten.  ever!!!!!!

While I was making dinner for the girls Claire walked up to me looking like this...
Don't worry, it was just red marker.  But I text the picture to Jake and said "marker or pink eye? It's hard to tell."
He said please tell me that is marker.
So I said it's actually a combination of marker, snot, and dirt.

I went back to fixing their dinner, and five seconds later Claire walked up to me like this...
So I text Mr. Hass and told him it was blood.
Not funny I know.
But sometimes you have to find the humor in things right.
So far that darn marker isn't coming off so well.
I'm off to put the crazies to bed.
And then workout.
And then maybe drink wine.
Ha.
Goodnight!

Father's Day & Some other Summer Stuff

This year we had a laid back low key Father's Day celebration at my house.  Mr. Hass worked until 3, and we originally planned on going to my parents for a bbq, but my Mom came down with a terrible sinus infection and double ear infection the night before and wound up in Urgent Care first thing in the morning.  So we changed our plans to just hanging out at my house.  I set out some appetizers, we picked up In-N-Out for dinner, and I made some brownies that we enjoyed with ice cream.

I get a kick out of this picture with my brother doing dishes and loading the dishwasher in the background.  My sister pointed out that Drew was doing dishes, and then we all made a big stink about it and shouted, clapped our hands and cheered him on.  Ha.  Too funny.
Trying to get a pic with Geeps and the kids.  Cute except you see what Claire is doing.  So we told her to put her dress down and then I got this one...
 Better.

This morning Hannah and Claire (and their cousin Noah) started vacation bible school where Hannah has gone to preschool.
It was a big day for Claire, who has never even attended preschool yet.  AKA never been away from her mommy for that long yet.  I guess it's time.  She did great, and it was actually me who had a harder time walking away from her in her classroom today.  (Do you notice Claire's black eye??? She tried to climb up the slide that is in their little pool out back and fell on her face.  It split right open but not bad.  Thank goodness Mr. Hass was home to keep me calm.  I thought we might be heading to the ER for stitches just like last summer for Hannah.  Please not again.  Once was enough!!!!)
Noah was a bit hesitant for my sister to leave, but once he got up to his classroom and realized Hannah was in there with him, and they had trains sitting out to play with, he was just fine.
The girls name tags that they each decorated themselves.

We dropped the kids off at 9am and had until 12:30 to come back and pick them up.
Um, yahoooooooooo!
I got so much done!
I went straight to the gym and got in a good workout.
Then to the grocery store.
Then to my mani pedi appt.

I've got two weeks of this.
Well, minus Tues and Wed when I am at work.
But still,
nice.

I will leave you with a collage of some instagram pics from the week...

I'm hoping to just flop on the couch soon.
I'm beat.
See ya.

Newport Dunes

Back in April right after we got back from Napa Mr. Hass and I took the girls camping at Newport Dunes.  I was so busy trying to get my Napa posts up that I never shared too much about that camping trip.

Well, guess what,
picmonkey is up and running with their collages (hooray!)
and life is finally letting up a little so we can breathe,
my cold is finally gone,
so I figured I would share some of the pics because we had so much fun that weekend and can't wait to do it again.
For those who might not know, Newport Dunes is only about a 40 minute drive from our house.  It is an rv resort in Newport Beach at the entrance to the Back Bay Nature Preserve and Boat Marina.
This was my first time camping here with my husband and kids, but was certainly not my first time there.  I feel like I grew up at this campground.  My family has been going there for years.  Some summers my Grandma and Papa would rent out a beach front spot for a whole month and the family would just all take turns coming down to hang out.  We have taken many a family pictures there.  I spent many summer nights cruising around the bike paths with my cousins, pedaling from our Papa's fishing boat in the marina, to the motorhome, to the rv pool, to the boat pool, to the convenience store to spend the money Papa gave us on ice creams and other treats.  And there were lots of times that my cousin Don took me out for a dinghey (dinghy? dingy? sp?) ride in the harbor only to get us lost, or make me think we were lost, or run out of gas and had to paddle back to the Back Bay Cafe for help.  Yup, I have had a lot of fun and lots of great memories at Newport Dunes.  I was so excited to be going there with my own family and making new memories for them to have.
We really lucked out when we went and had great weather.  Right after setting up our camp Friday night we grilled some sausages and sweet potatoe fries, and I fixed up some other snacks.  It was fun to really get to use the kitchen in the motorhome for the first time too.  Last year Bass Lake was our first offical motorhome trip, but you all remember how that went... Ha!

I like to think of camping at Newport Dunes more like "glamping."
Glamorous camping is definitely more my style.
There are so many amenities and fun things for the kids at Newport Dunes.  The girls had a BLAST our first night there running around from the water to the playground to the whale and back again.  (that whale usually spends the summer months in the water for the kids to climb up on top of.  And yes back in the day I swam out to the whale and climbed aboard.  Oh yes I did.)
I'm not sure what the girls thought was more fun, going to the beach or just hanging out inside the motorhome.  They love their cozy bed setup and get so excited to sleep up top together.  And of course they were passed out the second their little heads hit the pillow after their sun and fun filled days.

We really lucked out getting to spend time with Kaylen and Don two weekends in a row.  The weekend prior to Newport Dunes we saw them in Napa, and this weekend they were back in town for a wedding and our Grandma's birthday so we got to see them again!
Don is training for his second marathon (GO DON!) so he went for a morning run around the Back Bay while Kaylen hung out with us.
We spent some time on the beach hanging out, then my Aunt Glenda and cousin Chad dropped by to say hello.  Glenda asked us to "babysit" Chad while she ran off to shop at Fashion Island.
She brought back a box of Sprinkles cupcakes and we said Wow Glen, we will babysit Chad anytime for Sprinkles cupcakes!!! ;)
Kaylen, their pup Gracie, Claire, Don, Mr. Hass, Hannah, and Chad...  making our way to the pool for a dip.
Guests camping at The Dunes do have access to the RV resort pool.  This is not that pool.  We might have access to the pool at the marina and might not have a boat in the marina anymore, but shhhhhhhhh, I didn't just tell you that.
Kaylen took this shot of Claire on Chad's shoulders and I just LOVE it.
She took this one of Don too.  He looks happy doesn't he?  He loves having his picture taken.  Just like his mother. ;)
The boat pool does not allow pets aka dogs either.  But don't tell anyone Don brought his dog in ok? We are a rule breaking bunch.

And for old time's sake, here's a throwback pic circa 1990 something...
Family get together at The Dunes.  I think I was about 16 or 17? And Glenda you are rockin' that turquoise and purple jacket! Let's bring that style back huh? :)
See, told ya we've been going there for years.

We learned that the non summer months are much more affordable per night, and with the great weather that CA gets all year long, we plan on spending many weekends at The Dunes in the future!

Life is good.

Anybody still reading my blog????

Just wondering who's out there reading still...
It's been a while.
I'm sorry.
I am trying to keep up with this ole blog.
Let's catch ya'll up with the Hass Fam shall we?

Let's see...
Last Thursday was my sweet Hannah's official last day at her Preschool.  And on Friday last week they had an end of the year "water party" day.  She was so excited for this party and had been talking about it all month.
We dropped Claire off with my Mom and got to her party at 9am.
I was a little bit sad to see Hannah standing in front of that door that we have been walking in and out of for the last three years.  She is such a big kid now.  She has changed so much since she started going to preschool.
They had a few different water stations set up at school, but Hannah got back in line to do this big water slide over and over and over and over again.  It was fun to watch her having so much fun with her preschool friends.

In other news 'round here...
My sperrys came in the mail, and I can't stop talking about em.
They are the comfiest shoes I've ever had.  I just love em.  I want lots more pairs and lots more colors, and I think I may also need a boat since these are technically a "boat shoe".  I will have to talk to Mr. Hass about that...

Some other very exciting news...
Mr. H surprised me last Friday with an iphone!!!!!!
Hooray!!! (jump! cheer! clap!)
I have been complaining about my droid for a good while now but did not have an upgrade coming my way anytime soon.  However, Mr. H did.
However... Mr H had been planning on using his upgrade to buy himself the new samsung phone...
Which would have been bad news because little did he know, I have been saving my pennies since the start of the year to be able to surprise him with an ipad for his birthday in July.
Well, I knew if he knew about the ipad, he might change his mind about the phone and probably want an iphone as well, so long story kinda short... last week he told me he was going to pre order the phone he wanted and I knew he could not do that, so the very next day I gave him his VERY early birthday gift (good thing I had all my pennies saved up already huh?!?!?!) and he was VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.
So, the nice guy went and used his phone upgrade on a new iphone for mua.
I'm tellin ya, am I lucky or what?
Plus I get to play with his new ipad too, so it's a win win.  ;)

And I will now catch those of you who are not on instagram up with some recent insta pics.
If you've got a droid or iphone you seriously have to get on instagram!!!!
It is such a fun and FAST way to share pics and stay connected.

Here's a few pics from a bbq at my Uncle John's house on Sunday to visit with his daughter, my cousin Katie and her family who were in town.  And I kick myself for not even getting a pic of Katie and her family but my Mom got some good ones which you can see here.
Mr. H and my cuz Chad in front of the cool bar that Johnny built.
Mom and I enjoying a couple of pina coladas that Johnny made back there behind his cool bar.

And a few insta pics from today...
My day started bright and early at the Corona Courthouse for Jury Duty.  This was my first time ever having to actually appear, and I will admit I did find the process interesting.  And to be honest, if I didn't have the girls to worry about, and if I wasn't so afraid of being selected for a scary criminal trial, I might not even mind being on a jury.  The case today was rather disturbing and I was quite pleased when I was dismissed at 10:30am!  Mr. Hass took the day off work so I could appear in court, and so we took advantage of his day off and went to The Islands for lunch.

Well, I think you are all caught up with the Hass fam now.
I'm off to eat a cherimoya, watch The Bachelorette, and talk to Mr. H without little people interupting us.

See ya round. ;)
