So...
how bout that election huh????
Let me tell you, reading all of the facebook reactions was so awful it was almost funny.
I grew up learning that people's religious and political views are a private thing.
They were strictly discussed amongst family, or close friends.
But today we live in a world with so many different social media platforms that everyone seems to feel free to let their opinions fly.
It's ok for everyone to have a different opinion,
I just think that the line is so easily crossed now and instead of being respectful (I mean after all, we all have the right to make our own decisions right?), people can be just down right mean and obnoxious.
We watched Tim Allen's comedy Last Man Standing for the first time last week.
I loved it. Laughed out loud several times. The episode we watched was about this presidential election and I loved how both parties were discussed, but both were represented equally and respectfully.
This morning I had a thought that made me giggle.
So I wanted to share it with you, but first let me begin my story by saying this...
Growing up I watched my Mom help my Dad make a lot of decisions.
They discussed things, big and small, and would always decide together.
Big things that I'm sure I was never even aware of.
And small things, like what my Dad should wear to work each day, and what tie went best with which dress shirt.
Now that I am married to my sweet, smart and handsome Mr. Hass,
I realize that we make many and most decisions together too.
Big decisions dealing with our home, mortgage payments, life insurance policies, savings accounts for our kids, etc.
And small decisions too.
Today is our oldest daughter's 6th birthday. (Another post on that coming soon!)
And it is a busy day.
So I asked my sweet, and smart, and handsome Mr. Hass to help me out today.
I am working until 3pm, and we are having our family over for pizza after Hannah's soccer practice tonight.
So I asked Mr. H to run to the store and pick up a few things, including two pre made salad kits to go with our pizza.
My sweet, smart, and handsome Mr. Hass did not mind doing this at all. But of course he asked ME to tell him "what kind of salad kit should I buy?"
And sometimes, as a woman, and as a mom, I get tired of making decisions.
So I might have snappily replied,
"I don't care. Does it matter?! Just get two!!!"
And my sweet, smart, and handsome husband did not reply to that.
This morning as I am getting ready for work, my sweet and smart and handsome husband calls me from Albertsons to ask,
"They only have a caesar salad kit...???"
So I might have snappily replied,
"Then get it! Get two!"
Then I got off the phone and laughed out loud thinking,
you see,
men and women make decisions together.
Big and small.
But lots of times it is the womans final say.
Lots of times.
Am I right ladies???
And behind every powerful leader this country has ever had,
there has been a powerful First Lady, helping that man make decisions.
Big and small.
So I thought, well that's that.
I've figured it out.
People need to stop being so upset about Mitt Romney's loss, or Obama's victory,
and start thinking about who we should elect for the next FEMALE President.
Because people, up there in that White House,
you know it's always been the First Lady making those final decisions anyway.
Big and small.
Food for thought.
Or just a giggle!
I'm off to work.
Peace Out.
