Furniture, Food, and Pics from the Weekend

Well, our Spring Break is officially over after tonight.
So here I am trying to squeeze in one more blog post.  Who knows when I will do it again!

Remember how I told ya that we found a media console for our new house?  It was this one from Sams Club...
Well, Friday I was out looking around at Home Goods and TJ Maxx, and I saw this one and liked it SO much better!!!
So I text the above pictures to Mr. Hass, and he liked it better too.
Enough said.
I ran to the nearest sales guy and asked him to take my piece off the floor so that no one else tried to steal it from me and later that night we went and picked it up.
We had to borrow my Mom's suburban.
Things like this don't fit in the Prius very well.
Hmmmm.
I'm beginning to think the Prius is just not going to be big enough for me to drive around town shoppin' for my new house.
This could pose a problem for me.  ;)
After we got it home and put it inside I liked it even more!
I think it is going to look so pretty in our new family room next to the brick fireplace!!!

Here's a few random pics of some recent eats this last week.
I've made turkey meatballs lots of times before, but I haven't made the recipe in my Weelicious cookbook and man was it good!
The shrimp tacos that Hannah declared she was NOT going to eat.  Funny thing is that both girls ate them right up.  And they were gooood.
This last weekend I bought a delicious loaf of whole wheat sourdough from the Farmer's Market and this morning the girls and I had french toast with the bread and fried eggs with fresh salsa and cilantro from the market too.  I think Claire declared that her "best meal ever".
Friday night Hannah spent the night at a friend's house for the first time ever!!!
It was a birthday party for a girl in her Daisy troop.
The mom had the whole troop plus a couple more to stay and she said it was several of their first time's staying over somewhere.
I said I would be texting to see how it was going, and that I was fully prepared to run down and pick her up once she got tired and realized she wanted to come home.
But I was shocked when she fell asleep there and stayed the whole night!!!
The girls went to sleep at 10:30pm and slept until 6:30am.
The funny thing is that I'm the one who couldn't sleep.
I didn't expect that, but it was so strange knowing that Hannah was not across the hall in her room.  Plus I was afraid to fall asleep in case she woke up at midnight in a strange place and cried that she wants to come home.
It was mighty quiet with just Claire at home.
We got ready to go pick Hannah up and it was only 8:30am.  I had to get Hannah at 10 and normally I can never disappear in the garage to go workout in peace with both girls home because they open the door every five minutes with their fighting and what not. But with just Claire Bear at home, she watched a movie while I even squeezed my workout in!  It was great!
We picked Hannah up and came straight home to chill out.  I could tell she was so tired, but she didn't get extremely weepy like she usually does when she's over tired.

That night I picked up our sitter and Mr. H and I met up with some friends at The Mission Inn for dinner.  I always love going to downtown Riverside.  I love any downtown actually.  Mr. H drove me by the hospital to show me all the new developments going on at his work and then we went in for dinner.
It was a really fun night.
And afterward Mr. H and I even had energy to walk across to a new bar we wanted to check out call Prohibition, but it was spelled Pro A (upside down A) Bition.  It was neat, live music, cool atmosphere.  We stayed for one drink and then headed home.
Mr. H has been working this weekend, so this morning I decided to start packing up the kitchen.  I packed 5 boxes full, and it took me half the day.
The stack of boxes in the garage is getting bigger everyday.
And the inside is looking more and more bare.
We've also had time to sell a few things on Craigslist before we move too which has been nice.  Tomorrow we are listing this rocking chair.  Makes me a little sad to see it go as it was our first baby purchase when I was pregnant with Hannah.  We were so excited and proud when we bought that rocking chair.
Mr. H has patched all the holes and painted the walls.
And tomorrow it will be 21 days to go!!!!!

CAN.  NOT.  WAIT.

Leading up to Christmas

Finally getting around to the few pics leading up to Christmas that I have...

A client made this bookmark for me on her sewing machine!  I aboslutely love it and thought it was so thoughtful because she knows how much I love to read.
Here's what I wore to help at Claire's holiday party for TK.
My jeans are the Mia skinny jean by Kut from the Kloth, and oh my gosh do I love them.
I was in charge of the cookie decorating center.  I put this picture on instagram and said that it was fun, but it was also a whole lot of stimulus for one morning!!! ;)
The girls opening up a Christmas gift from Grandma Hass.  She bought them a series of dance classes and money for new dance leotards.  They were thrilled!
And here they are opening a package delivered from their Uncle Dusty and Aunt Karen in Portland.  They tore that thing opened pretty fast!  And they loved what they found inside.  Thank you Dusty & Karen!
Mr. H and I made it out to Taps one night a couple days before Christmas.  We had a nice dinner and then went to see Saving Mr. Banks at the movies.  We loved it.
The first Monday the girls were on winter break I wound up at the pediatrician's office with Claire.  She had a nasty cold that turned into an infection.
On the 23rd I made a double batch of this enchilada sauce for our enchilada makin' fest to take place the next night.  And 2 cowgirl quiche's from PW's book for dinner that night too.  After all that I was too lazy to also make cookies for Santa, so we bought the packaged ones.
On Christmas Eve we all pitched in to make our dinner of enchiladas, rice and beans, and additionally we made 12 dozen enchiladas to save some, give some, and eat some more.  It was fun.
And after we went to sleep that night, good old St. Nick showed up.
Later we showered and put our pj's back on and headed to Yorba Linda to my Uncle Tim's house for the family Christmas pajama party.  It was 85 degrees and sunny.  Felt like we should have had a pool party!
And speaking of pool, Hannah learned to play for the first time.  She was quite the little billiards fan.
When we got home that night the girls were cranky and tired, and Mr. H and I were exhausted.  But our little house looked like it had thrown up, and I just can't stand to sit and relax when my house looks like that.  Plus we have outgrown our house and now every little extra thing inside it makes me feel like the house is swallowing me up and I can't breathe!  So I thought I'd just start by making a small pile of Christmas decor to put away in the morning, and we wound up taking down all of Christmas!  It took us until 11pm and we were so tired afterward, and poor Mr. H started working a stretch of 8 days straight after Christmas, but it sure felt good to get it all put away.  I felt like I could breathe again.
The next morning the first thing the girls did was get up and put on their new princess dresses from Grandma GG and start playing with all their new things.

We took it easy the next couple days, recouping, organinzing things a bit, and finding homes for new toys.

That Friday we got together with a few friends and had a great time.  We all brought appetizers to share so I made a veggie tray and dip and these meatballs that were a hit.
I made them the night before and then just put them in the crockpot along with a jar of marinara sauce to warm the next night.

Our Weekend

Last Saturday Mr. H worked, and when he got home we had an appointment for family pictures.

I'll just say that it didn't go the way I had planned.
When does it ever though right?
At least that's how it goes in my life.
Ha.
Anyway, we rolled with the punches and wound up having a fun time as a family.
Since the session didn't go as planned, (basically it didn't happen) I am okay sharing the few pics I captured myself from the day.
These pics won't be the perfect Christmas card pictures I had hoped for, but that's ok.
It worked out because after the fact I got an idea for an even better Christmas card idea.
So anyway, here's a few shots from our Saturday afternoon.
I posted this picture of Hannah on instagram.  I can't believe that on Thursday she will be 7!!! I think she looks like a pre teen in this picture.  She has gotten so tall and her look has changed so much this year.  It's like we are starting to get glimpses of what a beautiful woman she is going to be.
And Claire will be 5 on Nov 17th!!! My baby? Five?!
It seems like yesterday that I held her all swaddled in a burrito in my arms while I sat in the hospital bed with the sun from our window shining in on us just hours after she was born while we waited for Mr. H to come pick us up and take us home to be a family of four.
The place where we were is supposedly haunted.
Two kids under the care of their nanny died in a house fire years ago and they supposedly haunt the property.
We didn't see any ghosts, but there was a bit of a creepiness in the air.
Maybe it was in my head.  It didn't scare me or anything.  Like I said, just kinda creepy.
It was pretty windy and it was almost like you could hear things from the trees as they shook in the wind.
Woa, is that too much of an extreme close up?  ;)
After leaving our attempt at a photo shoot, we went to Chipotle for dinner.
Chocolate milk and quesadillas for the kids, and bowls and a beer for the grown ups.
Then Mr. H suggested we go to Sams Club and check out the new ipad air.
I have been wanting the ipad mini for a while now, but I was waiting until the mini 2 with the upgraded retina screen came out.
It's out, but so is the new ipad air.
The air is sooooo much lighter than the ipad 3 that I bought Mr. H for his birthday two years ago.
It's a lot leaner and thinner but the screen size is the same.
Mr. H surprised me and said "Do you want it get it today?"
And I was like "Say whaaaaaaat????!!!!"
And before I knew it he was in line buying it for me!
I was so excited.
And what a fun way to end a day that didn't quite work out the way I had envisioned it to.
While Mr. H was in line, the girls and I scoped out the new Christmas loot.
And then Claire found a keyboard. :)
I really should get that girl in lessons.
She's got real skills.
And then we came home and fired up my new toy!
Since it's brand new there really aren't a lot of options for cases yet.
I bought one with a keyboard that isn't even available until tomorrow. I am paranoid to take it out of the box until the case comes!

Mr. H worked on Sunday too and I stayed in my pj's almost all day!
It was GLORIOUS.
I got so much done around the house.
And when he got home the girls had all kinds of energy to burn, so we walked over to the park with them and our dog Abbey.
We got there and they just ran and ran and ran and ran and ran.
I guess they needed that.
For dinner that night I made this super easy and turned out to be delicious dish...
Chopped up organic red potatoes (I think I used 5), chopped pacakge of chicken and apple sausages from TJ's, package of whole crimini mushrooms, chopped pepperoncinis, drizzled with EVOO, and sprinkled with salt, pepper, rosemary and TJ's everyday seasoning.  Toss it a bit and bake at 400 for 40 minutes, turning a couple times.
Pinterest for the win AGAIN!
We served it on top of spinach and topped with feta and a little balsamic dressing.  It was good, and the best part... my kids ATE IT UP!!!!  YEsssssss!  Score for Mom.

And one more piece of info you might like to know before I sign off for the night;
I finally figured out how to wear my chambray shirt!!!!
AND how to wear my floral skinnies I got on sale at Old Navy!
I've been so intimidated by that darn chambray.
I love it on everyone else I see it on.
But when I tried to wear it, I always felt so 80's.
But I think with something fun on bottom, and a tank underneath, and a fun floral scarf...

I figured it out!

How was your weekend?
Do you wear chambray shirts?
Do you schedule family pictures in November too?
Can you believe how many posts I cranked out today?
Me neither.
I'm out.
Peace.
